'67 might have been the year psych was really blooming, but '66 was the year of the magic, when the seeds got planted, the sprouts lovingly watered, cultivated, and grafted. I just read somewhere in a Balin tribute article I think, where he was talking to an interviewer or someone and they commented that all the wide-ranging press the scene in San Fran and LA was getting in '67 was "the fastest way to kill it." Maybe it was, or maybe it was other things.
But yes, 67. So good, both while it lasted and in its persistence in my own explorations to this day.
