I could see Football being gone from high school altogether in the future, although some communities will have a very hard time with it as they love their football and have long legacies even at the high school level. But there is really no debate over the dangers. Its true, some players take huge whacks to the head, are tested, and are fine. But its just like smoking. We all know some 95 year old woman who smokes and we sometimes think that's pretty cool. But how many other people'e lives are really damaged and shortened due to smoking? Same thing with Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)and football.
I think we could see it gone one day, but still exist in non-school related leagues. Either that, or they make truly major changes to the rules of play.
