Could McCartney & Starr perform as"The Beatles"

Here is my view...

I would frown upon them being billed as The Beatles, and I suspect that if they DID do it, it would be met with both confusion and distain. That said, it might not be wholly unacceptable. Suppose they toured together, performing mostly Beatles songs, and with musicians that were able to support them in bringing back the sound of The Beatles? Such a move would make them using The Beatles seem not so bad.

But if they just did their own songs (which they did a few years ago when they did a duet on one of Ringo's albums) then it would be ridiculous to call that a Beatles album or a Beatles song.

I think this question of a band's name and it's brand is different for each band. Some bands have gone through ridiculous line up changes where they are really just the same band purely 'in name only'
