motives for volunteer work

I agree with many points made here. One thing I believe is that artists sometimes do free concerts and shows because they love it, feel it will support a cause, but also for other reasons too. They might recognize it as a strategic move in their career. Large scale free concerts can provide tons of exposure. While there's no paycheque, there is a pay off down the line
