I discovered that the previous cases against politicians using their songs without permission were for campaign tv commercials - which is a different context. I worked in a couple of music publishing companies in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and I've been learning loads about permissions for all sorts doing a few short courses in documentary making. Although laws for using music can vary a little from country to country, they're more similar than different.
