Here is my review of CIMD 2012 version.
Seen on bootleg for years, the producers cut is the only original despite what they may try to pass off. The other two cuts include a conspicuous fall 1966 Mick interview inserted that was recorded for Peter Whitehead's "Tonite Let's Make Love In London" . The 2012 new version is Andrew being a complete revisionist. Despite some cool newly unearthed concert footage (that like the original film has other no matching sound and is synced to other live contemporary recordings), the film unearthed tends to focus on Mick Keith, and yes good old OLO himself who adds himself to the staring credits. .
We have a lot of interview footage cut with Brian and Charlie to further boost Mick and Keith. Look at even how the stage shots are much more evenly spread among the band on the producers cut. Thankfully it is here so I give the release full props for including it. I do like the new footage but you can tell how political it still with the Stones Unholy Trinity. Poor Charlie is no longer the darling, it's Andrew. Ah well we do get a killer 1965 live vinyl LP with the Brian/Keith interplay at it's best. Oh the slim book is nice looking, but being written by a Rolling Stone writer we again get a Mick and Keith drenched article.
