Yes, I agree that both the Steelers and the Bears had better Ds back in '60s and '70s, but that was mainly it, and I'm talking even before that timeframe. Most of the other teams had good Ds, nothing great (only from time to time did some other teams look great compared to the others on D). The men are bigger and stronger today, and the fact they are restricted by stupid NFL rules aren't the fault of today's D. Manning would had been that much better a QB had he played in the '30s and '40s, he would had had Babe Ruth like numbers overall compared to the others had he played in those years. I guess that some would claim he does have such numbers today anyway. But to say the QBs today are only great because of weak Ds is just flat out not true. The Ds today are better overall.
