There's never been much of a debate about who the SOAF lead guitarist is here at Gasland, but the topic has been heavily debated on other boards. Some feel it can't be anyone other than Keith, others are absolutely certain it's Brian. And no one has ever been able to back any of this up with anything that resemble so much as a shred of proof.
Ultimately what matters is that the SOAF lead is a pretty brilliant guitar part. Not at all flashy, but brilliant nevertheless.
Richards as the better guitar player
That is a pretty unfair comparison. It seems to me that at the time, the both of them were pretty evenly matched. Of course Brian was starting to move away from the guitar to embrace exotic instruments (leading to my absolute favourite Stones era). Plus it's unfair to compare what Keith did on guitar later in his career to Brian's output, because times (and music) had changed.
