First of all LoveYouLive I would like to say thank you for actully having a civil tone to your arguments. It's so much easier and in the long run more productive when both sides aren't exchanging "fuck you's" at each other. That kind of flaming advances no one's point at all.
I certainly did not mean to imply that the US was not culpable for our part in providing the Hussien regeime with horrible weaponized agents. We are. No doubt about that. I was just trying to point out that we are far from alone in these kind of stupid policies.
The argument that so many protesters keep pointing to is this,"Where was the USA when Saddam gassed his own people?" and "The USA supplied him with all of these weapons!" Some of the loudest of these protests are not from the streets of San Francisco or New York. Far from it. No,they come from our good friends in France and Germany.
My question is this. What did France or Germany,or for that matter the UN,do when Saddam gassed his own people? The answer is obvious. They did nothing either. So the whole world is guilty of turning it's collective back on the issue. However, the French and German's are now pointing thier fingers at us! The gas used,by the way, was not suplied by the USA. Who gave it to Saddam? You guessed it. The Germans! It was mustard gas.
So now Bush post 9/11/01 has decided to take decisive action and the hypocrits in Europe are showing thier colors. Bush is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. If he refuses to act then the next time Saddam uses these weapons Bush,or the American president at the time, will be villified. If he does act, well, you can see what happens.
