I gave the Stones single an 8. I truly love it but I'm leaving some room for what's to come. The way I see it, if everything is a 10, then the rating becomes meaningless.
Eleanor Rigby in the first rock poll. I suppose I could just as easily have picked Dust In The Wind, but I only get one vote.
Free Bird in the second poll. For the solo at the end. That is truly Allen Collins' song. He started working on it when he was 16 years old. His then GF and future wife came up with the opening words. The band always closed their shows with it and good luck to whatever band was following them if they weren't the main act on the bill.
The Elvis video received a rare 10 from me. I truly love it! If Elvis was still here among us, he'd be 85 years old! Hard to imagine!
The Beatles cover received the usual 7. I guess I shouldn't be amazed at the endless number of repackagings their music received, but I am. Gary Rossington put it best, talking about his own band's endless repackagings by MCA: "It's always the same songs, just in a different order." You got it, Gary!
