When it comes to the sexual abuse of children, we simply do not know why people (99% of them being men) do this. And no, not all of the abusers were abused. But if the stats are correct, then abusers probably show the same numbers of victimization among their group, possibly higher for certain reasons. But you can't draw a straight line between being abused and becoming an abuser. But again, since a certain percentage of abusers claim an abuse history, this incorrect assumption is made by some.
Again, no one really knows why people abuse kids in this manner. Theories abound, bit none are proven. Perhaps there are numerous physiological explanations and not one explanation can be used for all cases. But what can be stated as true is that, with the possible exception of true mental incapacitation, perpetrators know what they are doing and have at least some sense of the harm they are doing. If they did not know this, they would make no efforts to conceal their activities. So there cannot be any excuse for this behavior.
