RE: Several replies/Mix Emotions.comment

Thanks for the Thanksgiving wish CCH, I've always said that the entire world, no matter where you live, should have this holiday and celebrate it too, yet as far as I know, Canada is the only other country that also has it, too.

So Gomper, what did you think of that vid for TTNG?

watching the movie 25x5, Keith Richards says in a round about way that Mick wrote the lyrics to Mixed Emotions calling the song "Mick's Emotions"

I've seen that doc about 15 times and I don't recall that, but I also haven't seen it in about 15 years, either, and as I have noted here before, if there's one thing I'm great at, it's at remembering some things from the past incorrectly, and I did that here thanks to a stupid website that gave out the wrong info on this song.

So while I don't recall that part of the doc, you are correct that ME is a MJ song indeed, and written to Keith in response to Keith's solo song that he had just put out the year before, "You Don't Move Me", which was written to Mick by he, and his song was a very rude song towards Mick, indeed, lyric wise. Mean spirited, to say the least, and it was 100% about Mick and how he was breaking up the band.... The fact is, I even wrote about this in my own Stones book several years ago, as I just looked at the notes I was given by my friend James for several of the songs that I covered in the book, and this fact is noted in those great session notes he gave me about these 2 songs, and yes, I can now remember writing about this in my book.... So I can thank my reading up the other day on this song at Wikipedia directly for starting this mistake, as that is what they mistakenly claim there and since I read that, it made me incorrectly remembered it in that way. Deep down I could only recall that one of them wrote it to the other. But MJ did write it for sure and I should have known better than to take that crap written at Winki as the truth, as I have even warned those here at Gasx3 in the past, about how wrong half the stuff written up there at that site is totally incorrect and false, and this is yet another case of that being so.

Anyway, here are my picks for this week. I haven't noted them here in weeks, so I'll remember now to note them:

Stones1: I give it a 10, since it's different, and it was great to see the Glimmers being friends again to each other when it came out.

Stones2: Went with the new LP and it was a easy choice for me to make...as December's Children is my least favorite Stones album of the '60s. That doesn't mean I don't like it, it's okay, but nothing great on there other then "Get Off of My Cloud", with Brian's lead 12 string guitar on that number being as good a riff as anything that Keith ever played on his guitar - and I mean that Ronnie!

Rock1: An "8", and a great sounding song. When you watch an old video like this one, you got to consider that it was made back in the day when there weren't too many videos being made yet and anything like this put together back then was really wandering into unknown waters as to how such a film clip should be made. Perhaps I should have given it a higher rating for that reason?

Rock2: Gotta go with MT, and I would have also gone with Brian, Keith or Ronnie if their names were there instead. I loved the man who George Harrison was, he was a great human being for sure, and while he was a good guitar player, he just wasn't a great one. Had he been in any other band, he would be looked at as your average guitar player and no superstar. To me yes, he was a superstar for being in the Beatles and being a great person, but not for his guitar playing.

Beatles: A "6". This is the first Beatles video that we have voted on here that I don't give it a "10". I just never cared for this one. Yes, I like the song, but I hate those stupid looking outfits they are wearing and other than Ringo maybe, the other 3 look like they don't want to be there and you can clearly tell they are faking it and not playing their instruments. Lennon had said once that he flat out hated faking to play his guitar on film, and you can see that here in this clip for sure.
