He was "good", just nothing great. Besides the Stones' lead players, both John Lennon and Paul McCartney were better lead guitarists than he. If I listed my top 10 favorite lead guitar riffs from the Beatles songs, I'm positive that Lennon and McCartney would be listed more often than Harrison would, yet Harrison played most of the lead guitar on the band's songs, while McCartney played very little.
Still that doesn't mean that George wasn't good, he just wasn't great - or that good, just very average, at best.
Plus I'll note, in regard to another comment, that the lead MT has at the moment is a big one, and I'm not surprised at those numbers, either, since you must realize that the polls' voters are not just Stones fans, but your average rock fans. Many vote from the Lennon site, which is full of Beatle fans, and also the Classic Rock site, and many average rock fans aren't crazy for or even know MT that well. The highest number of Stones fans voting happens on Mondays and Tuesdays - thanks to this poll post and this board, after that, by mid week on, most voting comes from the Rock Site, while over the weekend, most vote from the Lennon site. So if anything, that lead MT has could even lessen.
