I think it's a two way deal...Keith Richards has a new record coming out so reporter gets sent to interview him, mindful that he's to get a few 'good' quotes etc, because Keith is your man for that. So the reporter gets a few 'controversial' comments followed by a wink. So, the publication possibly gets a few more sales because there is a market for a Richards interview, and Richards gets to talk about his new album.
It's quite gratifying that Richards is still making music (not that I'm too keen on what I've heard so far, of the new one) given he probably thought at the outset that the whole thing would only last a few years at best. More power to his strumming elbow, there's hope for us all.
Good also, in my opinion, that he says what he thinks negative or
positive about different types of music and musicians. When you're in your seventies, and have been through it, why be bland, grey, boring? Say what you think! Like the rest of us he has an opinion, unlike the rest of us, people want to hear his lol.
For the record, I don't think I said that I thought Ginger Baker was an 'asshole'.
