I had a friend who just loved Dylan - lived for him and had every album and bootleg. One of his first concert experiences with Dylan was very disappointing. He said Dylan just 'rushed through' many of his big songs and didn't seem engaged with the audience.

About Van Halen -- true, Roth never was a really great singer. He somehow got the job done in the studio with great production and the band really gelling with him. But if he was bad then on stage, then he's horrific now. I really don't know how they put up with this.
