Brian shines on "Buttons". He is all over that album, both versions of it.

I would say that he beginning of the end for him came with that phony drug bust, the one where some hasch was "discovered" inside a ball of wool. Now we all know that the charges were as phony as a 3-dollar bill, but in those days the system was working against Brian, trying to make an example of him. Paul Trynka's book explains superbly what this did to Brian and why. He was never the same after that ordeal.
