RE: RE: RE: RE: Between The Buttons

By beginning of the end I meant his appearance. He looked very burned out.

Oh, that's a big difference! I would say "maybe" to that, but most of that took place on the next LP, TSMR. Just look at him in the video for "2000 Light Years from Home", he looks about as stoned out of his mind as anybody in rock has ever looked in there. Although I got a photo of Keith from the early '70s, taken in the studio, when he was making EOMS, where he looks even more stoned than Brian looked in '68! Really, I should run a poll question for the most stoned out looking rocker; I'm sure one of them would win the poll!

Musically, he was very much still on his game for a very long time as far as Im concerned. He was great on the forthcoming albums, TSMR and BB. I don't think he was ever off his game come to think of it. i was strictly talking about his appearance.

I agree, other than for the BB sessions, he was out of it at times and that was why he didn't play on some of the songs. He was actually in the studio for most of those recordings. But when he did play, he was still their best musician in the studio - up to the very last sessions he played on in 1969. He just wasn't their best guitarist at that point, other than he was still their best slide player.

TSMR would have been stellar with Child of the Moon, We Love You, Dandelion, etc. Could you imagine Beggars with JJF? Or LIB with HTW? (I know it has Country Honk, but HTW is much better)

Yes, I can imagine that, and would like to see that on the next reissue. What Stones fan won't?

Also to DA.... You're right, that bust started the beginning of the end for BJ, and it took place in 1968. Yeah, the Anita thing had already happened, but Brian didn't believe she was really gone and he tried to get her back from Keith. By mid '68 he finally realized that wasn't gonna happen. So it was a combo of the 2.
