He was much younger than the rest of the Stones.
I think that this is a very important point. He was barely 20 years old when he joined the band, 25 when he left. He was still a kid. A kid who had been catapulted overnight into a position with a mega-superstar band. It was a totally different world from playing the blues with John Mayall.
He's not the only member of the band complaining about song writing crediting. Bill and Ronnie have expressed it too, and even people outside of the band such as Ry Cooder. So I'm sure he has a valid point there.
I think he also wanted to escape the unhealthy environment of drugs and the like. I'm not sure, but I think he got hooked on heroin and wanted to get away from that stuff. And that simply wasn't going to happen for him as long as he remained a member of the Stones.
Ultimately he made his decision for reasons that seemed valid to him at the time. It's too bad that Mick J can't accept that 40+ years later, it's all water under the bridge and it's a shame that he doesn't invite Mick T to really join the band for concerts. And maybe even for a new album, if we ever get one. Ruffled feathers shouldn't remain ruffled for nearly that long.
