RE: My picks

Well this week's polls are off to a great start, especially for a holiday, just wish, as usual, that there were more comments in this thread, thanks to G and DA for their replies so far, and thank goodness overall for DA, who never misses one!

Here are my picks:

Stones Poll: Undercover by a whisper! I rate these 2 albums almost the same, but if I had a choice of playing only one, I'd go with Undercover... However, I rarely play either one, can't even recall the last time I did.

Rock Poll: "Mrs Robinson". Paul Simon is not only the most underrated acoustic guitar player out there, but IMO, the best acoustic guitar player in rock music. I see now that, as we are in week 3 of this poll question, that others agree with me from looking at the tallies so far he's getting (wasn't sure if I was alone in this thinking until now), yet this is only the first time I ended up voting for his playing in these 3 parts (so far)..... Now yes, as I noted in the first post here, BJ's slide playing on NE is excellent (and Keith's playing is great on there too), and NE is gonna win this poll big-time, but I didn't vote for MsR for that reason, either. BTW, since I noted BJ's playing was perhaps not the best slide acoustic guitar listed in this week's poll - and if I was to vote only for an underdog, then the person who would had gotten my vote would had been Rory Gallagher for his song "Want Ad Blues"... yes, his acoustic side was as great as BJ's was. Damn, 2 great slide players who both left us way too soon! Gallagher only has one vote so far - a shame, but I expected that too, since so many never got to know him, so for that reason, I'll provide a link to him playing this song live: "Want Ad Blues". Enjoy!

VS Poll: As I noted in my reply above, I voted for my all-time favorite Kinks song, "Apeman". I would say this match up is very even, and I would guess if we had no Stones fans and no Kinks fans voting, that "Apeman" would win in a landslide, since MM is a deep cut that mainly only Stones fans (and perhaps some movie goers) know, whereas 'Apeman" was a top 5 hit... For me, both songs are equal in their music. But lyric wise, although MM is full of fun and cool, "Apeman" is also full of fun, and better written, and it's my pick, and I'm happy to see that it's in a somewhat close battle with MM and there's no landslide taking place!

Fab's Poll: LSD for sure. As DA wrote about John and his way of writing songs, I agree, no wonder he had 15 of the 25 songs listed!
