I recall my old and crazy, anti rock n roll music teacher in Jr High school (who I'll guess was born around the early 1900s), who would put down rock music using the same stuff you just wrote about. She would say that rock music repeats the same 2 notes over and over again and there was nothing more to it and that is was so simple to the point that anybody, including those with no musical talent, could play it. I hated that teacher!... but I realize that wasn't your angle, but pretty much a lot of the same words.
But what I was trying to get at in this thread early on is totally lost now (and Pluto I know you don't want to hear it again, so I'm sorry in advance, but here I go).... For me, it isn't so much about repeating stuff already used, it's more that Keith took credit for a riff - for the second time mind you - that he didn't write the first time, a riff that his band mates wrote, and at the least he could have credited them the second time, come clean, and not taken any credit again, and acknowledged for once who really did write the riff. Instead, he goes about for years on end putting down those very same band mates for things that he himself also did.
