I always took it that PIB was pretty much a band effort, sort of worked up in the studio.
Yeah, it was, other than minus Keith, who wasn't in the studio when the boys first worked on it.... Mick wrote the lyrics, and Charlie, Bill, and Brian came up with the music. Yet who got the writing credit... twice now... and who didn't?
As far as that terrible school teacher, you got the old nut down correctly. She would praise her music while putting ours down. You can't teach and get through to young teens while putting down their music, regardless if it's good or not.
I recall several years ago, I wrote an album review for the domain (can't recall which LP, but I'm know it's still out there) and I brought up this old witch pretty much in the way I brought her up here. I recall I closed out the review noting that the old bat more than likely was now dead, rotting in her grave, along with her boring music that nobody today listens to, while our music is still alive and well - and I bet will be around 100 years from now. You think anybody will play the music from the 1920s and 1930s, 100 years from now? I think only to analogize it and figure out why people enjoyed it, whereas I bet they will still play the Beatles, Stones and other music for enjoyment when that time comes around, just like many of us still enjoy hearing Beethoven's music today.... In fact, I bet they will also still play Beethoven in 100 years, but not that stuff that my stupid old music teacher liked and tried to claim was light years better than rock music. Ludwig van and his music will never roll over and die, nor will Chuck's music, either.
