Well don't rush too quickly to put my musical tastes in a box or deem me essentially closed minded to different styles of music. I take 'em one song at a time. For instance I actually like Eminem's song 'Controversey' he came out with years ago. (Very smart lyrics.) I'd rather listen to silence as opposed to most of his other songs. I listen to folk, easy listening, pop, R&B, punk, and a number of other genres from time to time. (I used to frequent a Jazz club in Norfolk back in the '80s.) I'm a pretty big fan of the B-52s and the Ramones for example. I'm not closed minded on music but like everyone I have my preferences based on how the music moves me. Once again, I take it one song at a time.
Some of the guitar work on, D Train, is actually cool, but some of it grates on my nerves. I like Yoko as an individual, and her step letter to the word "Yes", which captured John's imagination when the two first met, was original and smart, but her avante garde squealing gives me no more pleasure today than it ever has in the past. A fourth grader could write better, more interesting, lyrics. I often admire originality but I don't give high marks for originality simply for originality's sake. (Otherwise the Stones 'Might As Well Get Juiced' would receive high praise from me. It is original but it misses the mark in giving me pleasure.)
Rating the lyrics of D Train as "Simply Brilliant!" was an obvious joke on my part. I don't care for the song or her performance. I have a feeling you knew that, my dear, LG. lol.
