You would think? I have yet to find a really great store in the NYC area. I am going to try and check out that place in Elizabeth NJ mention at the Whisky Guild site.

Actually the best selection that I regularly (yearly) come across are in the Whisky shops at the London airports. They have a wide selection and do give samples. However the prices are very high. I would only buy stuff you can not find in most places. The common stuff is much cheaper elsewhere. It was even true in Scotland. If you want reasonably price Scotch-Whisky you really need to be outside the United Kingdom. The joke I heard was that most Brits make purchases in France where they can to save because of all the taxes in the UK.
