I agree they are kind of an 'oldies' band. And i agree there is nothing wrong with that.

I think the Stones are the sole members of a special category within their genre right now. There is really NO ONE that they can be compared with. I guess there's The Who, who have been around almost as long, but they've been even more sporadic and had major line up changes as well as 2 deaths. And then there's some bands from the 70s. But really no one is in the Stones category.

I agree they've had little new material. But they have had some singles, lots of live stuff performances, and new material in the form of the cover album. But not a new album of original stuff in 15 years? Yeah, that's a long time. The Who went 25 years between albums. I pray the Stones don't break that record!
