Too much, you were joking and yet he was really banned!! But it appears this was back in the 1950s perhaps?? Not sure, as i read the story real fast.... but it states, according to this UK paper Manchester News that he was banned because of stupid reasons like: "Being a threat to the health of the nation's youngsters. Psychologists and educationalists were worried that television stopped families from talking and having meals together. While dentists also expressed fears about jaw displacement. So the BBC put out a short broadcast warning that children should not lie on the floor with their head in their hands." You can read more on this at the above link.
So pluto, are you having any jaw displacement today thanks to this dangerous TV show?! Heck, here in the U.S. in the mid '60s, we had the "Soupy Sales Show" to corrupt us with! Yet Soupy was a blast and put on a great show for kids who were about 10 and up. He got in trouble telling kids (as a joke) to go into their parents pocketbooks and wallets and to take the green stuff in there out and send it in to him at the address he provided! Kids actually did this! But Sales was also known as the pie man, he was always getting or giving somebody else a pie to the face (an idea that the Yippie Pieman Aron Kay used a few years later and became a Yippie radical pie hit man (see here: Yippie Pie Man). I'm sure Kay still has his website up too (that is, if he is still with us, he must be over 80 today and last time I checked, a good 10 years ago, he was still a Yippie).... But meanwhile, Sales also had a hit record in the U.S. in the '60s thanks to his show, called "The Mouse", and years later when his 2 sons grew up, they formed that band with David Bowie called "Tin Machine"... remember them? Anyway, not sure what happened to Sales Sr after he was fired from TV, but more than likely he died years ago, being that he would be over 100 today. But he was a blast, and a very funny person, too... indeed!
