RE: On-Going Rock Polls Report

Okay, so let me get back into my annual update on the Rock, Stones, and Beatles On-Going Polls.

First, let's talk about the Rock Polls in this post. If you haven't voted yet or if it's been a full year since your last vote (you can vote in all the On-Going Polls once a year), you can cast you votes at the Poll Menu Page.

The first and most popular question asks: "What Is Your Favorite All Time Rock Band Or Group?". It's the second most popular On-Going Poll question vote count wise (with almost 55,000 votes cast to date), and the most popular Rock poll question overall. Result wise at the moment are: The Beatles have lead and held on to first place in this poll since the first day it started up on October 25, 1999, and today lead with 18% of the total vote, while the Stones have been in second place all along up to today at 15.6%. For that matter, Led Zeppelin had always held on to third place since day one, today with 6.2% of the votes. Spots 4 thru 10 have changed some throughout the years, other than for the last 10 or so years Pink Floyd (today at 4.2%) has been in 4th place, and they today are followed by The Who (3.2%), AC/DC (3.2 but with less votes than Who), Queen (at 3.1%), The Doors (at 3.1%, but will less votes than AC/DC), and Aerosmith (also at 3.1%, but with less votes than The Doors). The Grateful Dead round out the Top 10 at 2.8% of the votes. You can check out the full results Here.

Next up (and I'll just go in order of how they appear at the Poll Menu), is a question that asks for the Favorite All Time Solo Artist. Bob Dylan has lead this one all along with 12.5% of the vote, with John Lennon always in second place at 9.7%, but Jimi Hendrix is close behind in third, also at 9.7% and about 15 votes less than Lennon. The rest of the Top 10 is: David Bowie (6.3%), Eric Clapton (5.4%), Neil Young (5.3%), Elvis Presley (4.8%), Bruce Springsteen (also at 4.8%, but with less votes than Elvis), Elton John (4.6%), and Paul McCartney (at 4.2%). You can check out the full results here: Here

Then the next question looks at the All Time Rock Duo. More than likely I don't have to tell you that Simon & Garfunkel not only has always lead this one since day one, but has lead in a landslide since the first vote was cast. They sit today with 52.1% of the votes. Page & Plant has always placed in this poll, today at 10.3%, with John Lennon & Yoko Ono always in third for that matter, now at 5.4%. Closing out the Top 10 is: Steely Dan (4.5%), Everly Brothers (2.6%), Jan & Dean (2.5%), Crosby & Nash (2.3%), Ike & Tina Turner (2.3%, with 8 less votes than C&N), Sam & Dave (2%), and The Righteous Brothers (1.9% )... You can check out the full results here: Here.

Favorite All Time Male Vocalist is next up, with John Lennon always being in first and I don't see that ever changing, as he has always had a big lead over second place Mick Jagger, at 18% to Jagger's 11.7%. Freddie Mercury is in third at 6.2%, and the rest of the Top 10 are: Robert Plant (4.7%), Elvis Presley (4.6%), Jim Morrison (4%), Paul McCartney (3.6%), Elton John (2.8%), Bob Dylan (2.7%), and Rodger Daltrey (also at 2.7% but with 20 less votes than Dylan). You can check out the full results to this one here: Here.

The the All Time Female Vocalist poll follows, with another first place holder who has always lead and with her big lead always should lead, that being Janis Joplin with 27.4% of the votes. Aretha Franklin is second with 14.2% and has always held on to second place, with Stevie Nicks, at 6.4%, always in the #3 spot. Like most of these polls, spots 4 thru 10 do change often enough, with today Grace Slick next up at 3.2%, followed up by Joni Mitchell (3.1%), Tina Turner (3%), Chrissie Hynde (2.5%), Sarah McLachlan (2.2%), Madonna (2.1%), and Alanis Morisstte (also at 2.1%, but with 10 less votes). Check out the full results from this one here: Here. BTW, this question has the least amount of votes for any of the On-Going Poll questions (with under 19,000 votes cast... that's not counting the Rock Hall total vote which started up 10 years after the rest), but I'm not sure why? So please vote in it today since so many have passed it up in the past!

The last On-Going Poll I already talked about yesterday, that being the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame question. You can just click on the post above this one to read that again if you like.

Since I have to head on out of town in the next hour, I don't have the time to talk about the Beatles and Stones On-Going Polls right now - but I hope to get to them 2 maybe later on tonight, or for sure sometime tomorrow morning, in yet another new poll post reply. So lookout for that poll post update next!
