Yes, but as you know, nepotism is in just about every job there is (in good jobs and even in bad jobs) and it's nothing new at all - and it won't ever go away.
Yet it isn't that most of these kids are as good as their parents were at what they do, my guess is that 90% of them aren't. Usually such kids that follow in their parents footsteps are losers who have no drive in life, and in the case of most kids of music and movie stars, their families are dirty rich and they know that their parents money is theirs too, so they don't have to ever work a real job in life, as mom and dad will take care of them forever, even after their parents die, since they know that their parents will leave their estate to them.
I have a close friend who's son is 22 years old, he was/is the baby in the family and was always spoiled as a child. As a adult now he still lives with his parents, pays them no rent, mom cooks all of his food and washes all of his clothes; he sits around the house all day long doing nothing but watching TV all day, has never had a girlfriend, and he also has never had a single job in his life. To me, this is even worst than nepotism, and it does happen often enough too, just not as often, other than in families that are well off, where it's more common.
But this talk got me thinking that there must be at least some kids today of famous parents who are bigger than their parents ever were. So I did a quick Google search for that and the first page I found had a list of - as they titled it - "35 Celebrity Kids More Famous Than Their Parents" (I'm not gonna promote their stupid site with a link, but if you must see it, just Google that title and you will find it). After going thru this silly list, about a third of the way through, I had to think, is this site kidding? Maybe 10 or 12 of the kids listed are on even footing as their parents, and maybe 2 or 3 are bigger than their parents (Miley Cyrus is bigger then her dad, Billy Ray; and Lenny Kravitz is bigger than his mom, Helen Willis), but that was it! I didn't bother to look at any other results in my search, and perhaps there's better results out there that actually show some kids who are bigger than their famous parents were, and better than them at what they do for a living. But I got bored looking, so I stopped looking.
