RE: RE: RE: RE: Jazz drummers (lsc)

Keno, I'm surprised you didn't know about that Playboy poll.

Maybe I did hear about it and then I totally forgot about it since it looks like a joke and is a very forgettable list? I mean, Ringo came in third? But from what I have found online about this poll, it was a jazz influence poll, so that would help to explain it's very poor choices. But again, I don't mean to be putting Karen Carpenter down or am I saying she couldn't drum. What I am saying is that if I put together a list of the top 50 drummers, she won't even make the list, nor would Buddy Rich for that matter. No jazz drummer would (other than Charlie, who I never really looked at as a jazz drummer, not while he's playing in the Stones anyway), since I don't listen to jazz. I like listening to jazz music about as much as I like listening to jazz drummers play; their drummers are very boring and limited in how they play, just like most jazz musicians who don't play any horns. I mean, a jazz guitarist? They also put me to sleep. I'll modify a line from the song "Sultans of Swing": "It ain't what I call rock n roll".

Can jazz drummers keep a beat?... Well damn right they can. Are they fun to listen to and get me excited to be alive? Hell no, they put me to sleep more than anything else.

If a person loves jazz, great for them, I'm happy for them that they enjoy it. But please don't tell me that any of those jazz drummer are better all around drummers than almost any rock drummer.
