Well when I was younger I would say that I would defend my country if the war was happening right here on our land, but I would do that in some kind of office work for the war effort only, as I would refuse to go out on a battlefield. I am not gonna go out and kill another human who I never met simply because some asshole politicians are fighting with each other and order me to kill in their names for their cause. War, like politics, totally sucks and vets who aren't killed in war are still mostly damaged for the rest of their lives anyway after what they have to witness in war.
With that stated, I might hate killing, but in a self defense situation, I would have no problem blowing another person away if I had to defend myself or a family member, too. Guess I never looked at fighting in a war as self defense since if everybody refused to show up on the battlefield, there would be no battle to fight in the first place. Let the damn politicians fight it out between themselves if they want to go to war so bad.
