BJ was the one who hired him, yes, but it was ALO who was 100% to blame for the troubles that took place between Brian and the Glimmers, starting directly after he was hired. He split the 3 apart and encouraged the Glimmers to write while pushing BJ away from doing that. I have heard some terrible ways in how he treated BJ, then about 10 years ago on his radio show he had the balls to say that Brian was one of his best friends! Talk about a liar! ALO had no friends back then and everybody knew it! He also didn't have a clue on how to produce the Stones, he got the credit on the LPs because he demanded it as their manager, but the records were all produced by the Glimmers, BJ, and Bill, that was clear! The only thing that he did that he was credited for doing, was getting the Glimmers to write their own stuff, but again, in doing that he totally isolated BJ and Bill from them, and yet Bill knew how to write songs before the Glimmers did, but like BJ, his songs were never allowed to be recorded. That was 100% ALO's fault. I guess he was a good enough manager too, in how he made the Stones look like total opposites of the Beatles, but only "maybe" that was a good thing, it's really hard to tell, since deep down the Beatles and Stones were actually the same kind of guys and got along great with each other.
The best thing to happen to the Stones in early '67 was to fire ALO's ass! After that the actual album producers names were showing up on their records, so a lie was erased from all that, and it opened the doors for their greatest producer ever, Jimmy Miller, starting in mid '68!
