GHS/SG/B&L/The Band/J.Brown/MMT/RS

With the U.S. and Canadian holiday weekend well underway (actually, it’s more than half over now), well it’s also around that time when we get this week’s 5 weekly polls started up, and as usual we start off with the Stones Poll, where we enter week 945, and as we always do at this poll, we’ll vote in 2 poll questions in this one week. The first question will ask this: Which is the most underrated song on the Stones Goats Head Soup album?

Goats Head Soup is known as the Stones most underrated album, but what is the most underrated song on it? I personally feel 6 of the 10 songs on the LP are very much underrated, and this just might be the first LP where all of the songs listed might get a few votes each at the least, since it's best known song on here, “Angie”, while well rated by most music lovers – that wasn’t the case with all Stones fans, as many felt the band went too soft on this song. So here’s a rare case where Stones fans actually underrated a Stones song when non fans didn’t. Strange, but true.

To make your pick in this first Stones poll, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

The second Stones poll is where we run the Stones album VS matchups, and this week's question asks this: Some Girls vs Blue and Lonesome, which album do you like the best?

vs

The Some Girls Polls return this week featuring the Some Girls LP. It goes up this week against Blue and Lonesome, and I realize that we just did B&L last week in the = 60 polls, and its own series will come up again next week, so that will make 3 weeks in a row of asking about this album. But since it’s the Stones newest album, and it has the least number of matchups, running it 3 weeks in a row will get it closer to being on par in matches among all the other LPs. That, and the fact that SG is the second most voted on Stones album in these album VS series, is the other reason for this, as SG only has so many albums left to go up against.

Now in past matches, SG has a 12-4 record, good for 6th place in the standings, while B&L is now at 4-5 and is in 16th place.

To see the song list for each album, for Some Girls , click on: SG, and for Blue and Lonesome, click here: B&L

To cast your vote in this second Stones poll, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

At the first Stones poll last week we answered this question: Which is the most underrated song on the Stones Exile On Main Street album?

Looking at the results from last week at the Stones poll... For the second week in a row, the Stones first poll lead the way in total votes cast for all of the 5 weekly polls.

“Torn and Frayed” was chosen as the most underrated song on EOMS in very, very close voting. To see the final results from this poll, just click here::Stones Weekly Poll - week 944, poll 1. The top results will also show up at the Stones’ Fans Top Picks, page 1 , where each song picked so far as the most underrated from each album is listed.

Looking back at last week’s second Stones poll, the question was: 12x5 vs Blue and Lonesome, which album do you like the best?

vs

Hard to believe how well received the Stones last album was when I see how poorly it’s doing in these matches and now it has a losing record. To see the final results from this poll, just click here:Stones Weekly Poll - week 944, poll 2. Plus, I’ll add the results from this poll to the standings at the Stones VS Page 1, where at the top of the page you can check out the updated standings on how each album has done in these long running VS polls.

Over at the Classic Rock Poll, we enter week 585 of these polls, and just like as we do at the Stones poll, we vote in 2 poll questions a week at this one too. The first poll’s question this week asks: Who was the most underrated member of The Band?

This is gonna be - I think (but I've been wrong before), a very interesting, close poll, as all five members were underrated, especially the 4 members who played several different instruments often all over their albums. The only guy who stuck to one instrument was the member who wrote the majority of the songs for the group including all of their biggest hit songs.

To pick the band member who was most underrated, just click here: Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

At the second Rock poll this week, known better as the Rock VS poll, we will vote on this question: James Brown's 'I Got You' (main title) vs 'I Feel Good'(sub title), which song title is better?

Officially we return to the song sub titles vs main titles polls this week. This 1964 dandy was sung and written by James Brown and was his highest charting song, making it to #3 on the U.S. Pop singles charts, #1 on the Soul charts, and #1 on the Billboard Rhythm and Blues Singles chart for six non-consecutive weeks.

But which title do you like better? To vote in this poll, just click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

In last week’s first Rock poll, we asked: Who was the most underrated member of the Traveling Wilburys?

For this question last week, the outcome wasn’t close at all. Jeff Lynne won by a large margin over second place finisher Tom Petty. To see the full, final results, just click here: Classic Rock Poll 1, week 584. Or check out the top pick at the Top 10 Rock Page 14, where you can check the other top choices picked for many other bands.

In last week’s VS Rock poll, we answered this question: T-Rex's 'Get It On'(UK title) vs 'Bang a Gong' (U.S. title), which title is better?

Well this one was as close as it could get without seeing a tie, as one single vote made a difference. To see the poll’s final results, just click here: Rock Poll 2, week 584 You can also check out the final results at the VS Classic poll results page 2, at the Classic Rock site, by clicking here: VS Page 2, List Page 10.

We close out this poll post with the Beatles poll, where we enter week 338, and ask the question: Magical Mystery Tour vs Rubber Soul, which album do you like the best?

vs

Week 3 of "the Mystical and Magical Polls, featuring the Beatles 1967 Magical Mystery Tour album. This week it takes on another very popular release, Rubber Soul. RS was the album where the Beatles went from being a pop group, to becoming a classic rock band (even if we didn’t use that term back in the ‘60s or even in the ‘70s).

I was talking above about being surprised that the Stones B&L album was doing poorly in the Stones matchups, yet I’m even more surprised that MMT, filled with great songs, has only a 2-4 record after last week’s latest lost. It isn’t gonna be any easier this week with it taking on RS, which is at 3-1.

To see the song list for each album, for Magical Mystery Tour, click on: MMT, and for Rubber Soul, click here: RS

To vote in this poll, please go here: Beatles Weekly Poll.

In last week's Beatles poll we asked: Magical Mystery Tour vs Revolver, which album do you like the best?

vs

So as I just noted above, The Beatles second most underrate album, Magical Mystery Tour, lost again…. Maybe, or perhaps, it’s really their most underrated album? To see by how much it lost last week, just click here: Beatles Weekly Poll – week 337. Or, you can check out the Beatles current album VS standings and past matchups at the: Beatles Albums page , which is located at the domain’s Lennon Site.

Well another poll post is in the books, or at least up on the Gas board. So tomorrow is Labor Day, unless you live in Canada, where it’s called Labour Day. I see in most other countries that also celebrate this holiday, it’s also spelled out as “Labour Day”, but everywhere else it’s held on other dates. But anyway, regardless of where you live, we workers should have a special day set aside for our hard work, so enjoy your day off, you earned it! Of course, it also signals the unofficial end to summer, which I know troubles many of you. But for me it means my favorite time of year is closing in fast, soon the leaves will be changing colors, and my hard work in the garden all summer long is almost over, and a lot of fine veggies await my dinner plate.

I thank all of you who take the time to vote in our polls - for doing so. If you don’t ever vote, why not join us this week? You took the time to read this long poll post, so you must have some interest in the voting, so why not be heard along with the rest of us!
