Well us die-hard fans know that, but even when DW went up against SF several years back, even it got some votes (3) in what was I believe the biggest landslide win ever at our polls, and for sure the biggest landslide win ever in the album match-ups. Yes, we did have less voters taking part in those days too, more than half less than today, but that all-time crappy LP still saw 3 votes against SF! So SW has already surpassed 3 votes in this week's poll, and it should so better than DW did since it is very much better than DW, but no, it doesn't hold a candle to the great SF, either.
Here are my picks for this week:
Stones poll 1: As much as I'll stand up for MJ in this poll, there is no way he or Keith were more musical geniuses than Brian was. IMO, other than maybe John Lennon, BJ was the biggest musical genius in Rock music just for how he could play every instrument made by man, as few can do that.
Stones 2: SF
Rock 1: 'The Candy Man' – Sammy Davis Jr. He may not have ever been a rocker, but this silly song was released and a big hit during the modern day pop era, so it gets listed since it should be listed for that reason.
Rock 2: Let's face it, the Stones song was never meant to be released, and it shows that, as they as a band didn't even really record it. Still, it isn't that bad, and I like the girls singing at the very end, too. But I had to go with Ringo singing "Boys", he did a very good job on that one indeed.
Beatles poll: I went with: "Picture yourself on a boat on a river with tangerine trees and marmalade skies. Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly, a girl with kaleidoscope eyes".
