RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE:John....

Ringo gets a lot of crap thrown his way.

I don't see that at all. Just because I and others say he isn't great doesn't mean anything but that he wasn't great. He was good, yes, just not great. Most, if not all hard rock drummers sound better than Ringo sounds, IMO. Charlie blows Ringo out of the water as a drummer, and he isn't even a hard rock drummer.

He was the perfect drummer for the Beatles

I've said that here many times throughout the years - but I always noted that he was the perfect drummer for the band up till the mid '60s. But once the Beatles left pop music behind, his drumming didn't hold up as well to the hard rock songs, to the point that McCartney, Lennon, and Harrison, all took turns on the drums to help him out in the later days of the band, something that never took place till the late '60s, and something you never see in other bands. Why was that so?

I always like to use as an example the cover of "I want to Tell You" by the redneck formally from Detroit and now Texas, first name Ted, who I hate to promote, but just listen to the drums on the cover to that song and you can tell how more powerful the Beatles later songs would have sounded with a better drummer who knew how to pound the drums, something that Ringo just didn't seem to be any good at. He kept a great beat, yes, but he didn't do any more than that.
