To paraphrase what Ginger Baker once remarked of MJ: "Mick's not a musician, he's an economist". Well there is some truth to that, as Mick has always had an eye on the money, and on many levels. And Keith appears to be a primary beneficiary when it comes to songwriting. Over the course of the band's history, Mick and Keith have routinely shared writing credits (and royalties) for songs in which they either collaborated on or wrote separately. However, if another member steps in to collaborate with Mick or Keith in creating a song, it still shows up as standard boilerplate "Jagger-Richard". A couple oft-repeated examples are "Ruby Tuesday" where Mick was not involved but Brian was big time, or "Moonlight Mile" where Keith did not contribute but MT certainly did. And there are others. So based on what's known, is this pattern OK as being "just business", or does it go a step further as a denial of artistic ownership, not to mention financial due? Not saying, but it begs the question. Interesting that there has not been any litigation from surviving former band members, but there's still been a bit of discontent.
