RE: RE: charities and the holidays...nsc

Any executive who steals from the charity that employs them is nothing but a thief and criminal, period. But damn, 99.9% of the people who run them aren't that way at all. Yes, thief's can show up at any business, period, and it happens once in a blue moon to charities, too, but it's rare, very rare. Plus I don't know what the percentages are on this, but many executives who work for such charities aren't paid a dime for their work (like myslef), and most of the ones who do get paid are making very little money compared to a CEO of a regular for profit business. I do know that with the 15 food bank network that I work with for my local food bank, only one person, who runs the entire network, and who works OT on many days, does so on a PT salary, and he is the only person in the entire network who gets paid anything. The top person of such a network has to be paid something since it's a FT job and you can't expect a person to work for free 45 hours a week, they got to support themselves and their family, too. At my local food bank, we are not only all volunteers, but all of us are over 60 years old and none of us works FT anymore at our regular jobs, half of our volunteers workers are fully retired.

So do understand that 99.9% of all executives who work for charities do not take excessive chunks of the donated cash, that is a total falsehood and whoever told you that is totally in error. But you can't expect 100% of the money to go 100% to just the people in need, either. In my food bank's case, even if all of us workers aren't paid, we have to buy some of the food, and we pay rent, too (that part is total bullshit, since half the food bands at least in our network don't pay any rent at all, and our food bank is located in town hall. So I'm planning a meeting with the mayor about that real soon. Yes, we run 2 freezers and a refrigerator in there, but we are helping to feed the poorest people in our very poor community, too, so IMO, Town Hall has no business charging us rent, and then telling us we can only be in there working on limited days, to boot.
