Stones poll: Some Girls!
Rock Poll: Micky Dolenz to my ears is clearly the best singer out of that list, and there are several good ones listed. A note on Dolenz: He was hired to the group first for his acting, second for his singing, and then for his guitar playing skills, as he was to be the rhythm guitarist. He didn't even know how to play drums at the time. Davy Jones was going to be the drummer, but (and getting back to what DA and I were commenting on about drum kits), when they put Davy behind the drum kit, because he was so short, nobody could see him at all! So that's why Micky became the drummer and had to learn how to play the drums.... One last note.... If we weren't looking for the best singer only, and instead were looking for the best singer while drumming, hands down I would go with Roger Taylor. He is the only drummer I've seen sing live and not miss a single beat on the drums. Just check him out singing the heavy metal song "I'm in Love with My Car" live and you will see what I mean!
