"Got to find an album for week 6 of this poll that SW will have a more even match-up against"
Undercover?
That would be a good one, thanks. But it is one of the albums voted on the most so far, and when I put these polls together now, I'm trying to also place albums that haven't been voted on too much. So I'm thinking of doing ER, which has only been voted on 2 times, and I think would also be good. But then again, I also like to get at least one album per series that covers all of the time phases for the band, and we haven't voted on any of the newer LPs from this century yet in this series (in fact, DW was the newest one, and that came out in the '80s, and next week is the last week for this one). So B2B is another one I might match it up against. Time will tell.
I find that their position at the back of the stage and the presence of the huge drum kit in front of them creates an insurmountable distance between them and the crowd.
When I was putting my Stones book together years ago and I was at rock photographer Philip Kamin's place going over what photos we were gonna use in the book, I noticed a lack of live photos of Charlie Watts, and I asked him why that was the case, and the answer he gave me was real close to what you just noted. Concert photographers have such a hard time shooting the drummers from the photo pit for the same reason. Some bands will allow the photographers to come up on stage to get some better shots - but not the Stones. Of course, none of this is the drummer's fault, but their big drum kits are a problem and gets in the way for everybody!
it was Rossington, not Allen Collins that time Keno
Yes, you noted that to me a few months ago in another thread, and you are correct. For years I though it was Collins, but I'm still getting my Skynyrd car accidents mixed up I guess. Thanks for the correction.
