Brian was supposed to be at Redlands too that evening but he was delayed by something (I don't quite remember what) that had to do with his film music. When he was ready to head out, he phoned Redlands and found out about the bust.
He dodged a bullet that night. But in retrospect, maybe it would have turned out better for him had he been there. Because he would have had more support than he did when he was busted alone. That old thing about there being strength in numbers.
