Wow, really, I totally got it from the start! It's the typical liberal gun owners stance on gun control, and there are liberals who own guns (like myself). Outlaw the guns that are only used to kill or hurt people and leave the rest of our guns alone. That would solve a lot of the problems we have with guns, we do need to have gun control, but not for all guns. I mean, you never see anybody being held up with a hunting rifle. As Ronnie sang, "Hand guns are made for killin', they ain't no good for nothin' else". I think that lyric explains how a gun owner can support gun control.
I think you misunderstood me Keno but upon re-reading what I wrote, I realize that it was easy to do so. I totally get the meaning of the lyrics. What I don't "get" is why people seem to enjoy this song which, to me, is musically repetitive and uninteresting. I feel exactly the same way about this song as I do about YCAGWYW and Hey Jude. It's by far and away my least favourite song in the Skynyrd catalogue.
As for the Beatles-sounding songs, I confess that I only know the hits and that I voted based on the ones I know.
