Hiya Starbuck,
Sorry, but it's a bit of a long reply!!!!! LOL!!!!
I just spent a week and a half celebrating a big b.day that ends in 0!!! Went to New Jersey to see someone who was playing there for 2 nights, and the day before I flew out I found out that RW was playing in Atlantic City, so I changed my plans, hired a car and somehow managed to fit absolutely everything I wanted to do into a couple of days - including sleeping and waking to photograph the sunrise over the ocean!!! Flew in on Thursday night and flew out 8 a.m. Sunday morning. Had Monday to get organised and Tuesday was my b.day. Celebrated that with lunch out and dancing away in the evening, then Thursday Sundance Festival started!!! This time last Sunday I wasn't sure I'd manage to cope. In 4 days I saw 9 films, 2 panels, saw Robert Redford and T.Bone Brunett interviewed, saw Prince Charles present his documentary, and perhaps the best surprise on the first night was Paul Simon doing a Q & A after the first showing of Under African Skies. It was just all so wonderful, I'm still in 7th heaven!!!!! Anyway, a week's gone by, and so I'd best get back to reality!!
Streets of Love was rather flimsy don't you think, very corny, not at all innovative!! I mean it's OK - as far as rock & roll songs go!!!! Actually I'm doing quite well (apart from having the responsibility of caring for my dear old Dad, which is a hundred times harder than having kids ). I now have a holiday home by the ocean and I hear the sea lions indoors with the windows closed (someone's suggested that when the novelty wears off I'll be cursing them, but I've not stayed there long enough for irritation to set in yet, LOL). I'm also branching out into of all things, film making - got inspired last weekend at the Sundance Festival in London, and suddenly realised that if I want to be the Director, Producer, Editor, and everything inbetween, the first thing would be to get my head around ........ screen writing!!! I have a friend who's a professional photographer for a national newspaper who's offered to help, but there's loads to do before I even THINK about cameras!!! As luck would have it, there was a one day course offered on Saturday at the City Lit. Well, it's a start!!! LOL!!!! So far I think there's about 4 films, and I can't decide which one to develop ideas on first, so I guess they'll all be growing together!!! I've not been this excited since I discovered astrology!!! Just when I gave up on being part of yet another organisation that SEEMED on the surface to be for me, this came along, and it really ticks all the boxes for me to get projects off the ground!!! I must be crackers (well everyone here KNOWS that anyway), 'cos I've no clue what on earth I'm doing, and my goal is to have a film shown at Sundance Utah in the next five or six years!! I can't believe I'm so excited about walking into the total unknown - I guess the Tarot Card of the Fool is truly the only card that would represent this part of my journey - I mean on the one hand I'm caring for an elderly man in the early stages of Vascular Dementia and Alzheimers, I'm running a family business (which I resuscitated 3 years ago after the recession hit investments), I could just move in the direction of running workshops and so on, but instead, nooooo, I have to revert back to my love of working with adolescents and my hatred of doing so within the Education Dept., Social Services, and the NHS, I don't want to work within the confines of the voluntary sector, and so suddenly out of the blue, here I am about to wander into an area I'm totally clueless about, and I think it could work!!! You know what, SoL didn't really inspire me, so when you asked I looked at the official video, and ...... all I could do was deconstruct the storyline in the video!!! How sad is that?????? LOL!!!!
