RE: BJ was the Stones lead guitarist???

Mick Taylor knows that serious Stones fans consider him to be the best lead guitarist the band ever had... But when asked about it, he pooh-poohs the notion. “Well, they only had three [leads] — Brian Jones, Ron Wood and me,” he says.

No question, MT was the best of the three, but how the crap does MT not know who the Stones 3 main lead guitarists were? Brian Jones was never officially the lead guitarist of the Stones. Sure he played lead guitar on a bunch of their songs, but in the '60s when he was in the Stones, Keith Richards clearly was both the lead and rhythm guitarist for the band. Brian was the main lead instrumentalist in the band in the '60s, yes, and he did play more leads overall then Keith - but not on the guitar. All one has to do is add up the songs the band recorded while BJ was in the band, and Keith played more lead guitar on those songs than BJ played. Because Brian played so many different lead instruments and many times didn't play guitar at all in those songs, Keith also was the main rhythm guitarist, too. How does MT not know this?
