I watched most of a very nicely shot video from MSG, 1/18/06. Is there any doubt that the Stones is Jagger's band? He writes the songs. He sings them. He works hard to sell them on stage. He plays keyboards, guitar and harmonica. Keith adds his presence to lend some validation to the whole thing, but most of ABB sounds very much to me like Jagger pop with Keith adding very little to the album's feel. To me Keith looks bored and he has for years (see the '95 Japan VL video...same thing). He gets his two songs here, two songs there. He gets to keep Ronnie. He gets cheers and money. But at what price? To me he gives every indication of a man not satified with what he is doing. He gets to take free shots at Jagger and frequently does. He's become this jokester both on and off the stage. One arm off the guitar! Now two! "Look how I pose!" "Look how easy all this is! Look how silly I can be and you still love it." No one can convince me he is applying himself to playing most of the time he's on stage. Jagger is Jagger and he has no place to go. But I am very disappointed in Keith. The talk was all rosey when ABB was finished, but the way Keith acts tells me something else. And I am certain he would almost truthfully and completely deny it.
