First off, that's awesome that you remember watching Ed Sullivan! I often wish their were still shows on TV like that, but that's not how the world works. There are so few "variety shows" left. In fact, I struggle to think of one. Saturday Night Live *sort of* counts as one with varying musical acts and comedy. But gone are the days of shows with jugglers, music acts, comedians, and then maybe a somewhat serious interview. Now everything is specialized and pigeon holed and we all watch different stuff, different streaming services that the people in the next house don't even get. There's no more watercooler conversations of everyone having watched the last episode of MASH, or some controversial interview on a talk show. Even sports seems fragmented. But I'm ranting now - sorry! I am not as old as some folks here. My first Stones memory would be listening to Tattoo You at a friends house as a kid and really getting in to it. And then a few years later I was the biggest Stones fan in the neighborhood.
Far Away Eyes is a 10 for me. Quite a colorful, magical, transportive song. Its borderline comedic and Mick really plays a character of a certain time of and place. I don't listen to that song anywhere near as often as I once did, but whenever hear it I just love it.
I just did a simple math equation and it looks like Keno has put out a weekly poll for 24½ years, which is pretty amazing. That is, unless there were gaps, but I doubt there were many if any at all. Did the board start in 1999 or 2000? I recall it back around those days, and I recall posting. Lots of more people here, but its still a pretty cool place and I am thankful for it.
