I went with the MSG version in the Stones poll. The classic version. You can't really beat that. So far, the results are much closer than for last week's poll.

I'm tempted to go with that truly horrid Clash disco version in the first rock poll. Boy, does that suck! But there are too many songs I don't know in this poll. So maybe I'll inflict some punishment on myself by listening to bits and pieces of some of them.

The ZZ Top video got a 7. Although I knew the song, I'd never seen the video. The song itself is good, although it's not the best song on this great album (that honour goes to Sharp Dressed Men IMO). But the video is dumb. Sweet young things showing lots of legs. How original (not!) Yawn!

I really didn't know how to rate the Beatles cover. In the end, I gave it a 9. Because in its nakedness, it is truly original. And the whiteness of the cover contrasts with the dark mood of at least some of the music inside (and quite likely the somber mood in the studio where it was recorded.)
