RE: RE: RE: drumming

I always wanted to be a drummer but never tried it

Yeah, I loved drumming too, but back in my youth when I first took drum lessons at school, I only had a drum pad to play on, as my mother never would allow me to have a real drum kit in the house! I had a great mother, don't get me wrong, and she was supported enough to me wanting to play a few instruments, so I had a recorder and learned to play that, along with the old piano down in the basement that I taught myself how to play, since my older cousin who lived nearby us, and who gave piano lessons to my 2 older sisters and promised to give them to me when I got just a bit older, never did, as she started to have her own kids and never did teach me. So I took the old piano lesson books we had and taught myself, since I did know how to read music. But I never was that good at playing since nobody taught me properly, which was the same deal with the guitar, mom got me one but I had nobody to show me how to play it. Yet the drums flat out came to me naturally and I didn't even need lessons, if you can keep a beat, then you can learn on your own (for the most part). But I had no drum kit and playing on a pad is not the same thing. Yet I still have that same drum pad today!... along with a now old compact electric drum kit, which was fun to play 20 years ago, until one of my kids lost the plug-in cord, so I can't turn it on anymore. But I never had a true, real drum kit to play, as my mother didn't want to listen to the noise it would generate, so she never let me have one. Who knows what that would have lead me too if I just had one!... but so goes life I guess, you really can't always get what you want, and if you ever played on a drum pad, well then you know, it ain't the same thing at all.
