Neil Peart, the power drummer for Rush and the guy who wrote all of their songs, passed away this week. It's unusual for a band's drummer to be the only songwriter in the band, or even be a songwriter for that matter, but every hit that Rush had was written by him, plus he was a great drummer, too.
He went thru a lot of hardship in the late '90s, first losing his teenage daughter in car accident and then his wife to cancer shortly after that, causing him to retire from showbiz and life for awhile, until returning a few years later to Rush. He also, like his first wife, lost his battle to cancer this week at 67 years old. RIP Neil Peart, Rock n roll will miss you for sure!
