When I put the list together for this future poll several years ago - and that I never used until this week's poll, well I missed one important song, that being George Harrison's "Ding Dong, Ding Dong". Then when I decided to finally run this question last week, I did do a second web search for more songs, which for me came up with one added song to the list - but not this song, as I didn't see it listed anywhere and didn't think about it myself.
Now yes, some claim this song isn't really a New Year's Eve song at all and is - or at least was - a jab at his former band-mate Paul McCartney, whom he was pissed off at when this song was made, as he was taking John's side in that Beatle feud that was happening. Of course when all of that was over with, George did state that wasn't true and this song wasn't about Paul and was indeed a New year's song. But then again, everybody and their dog knows that the Ringo song "Back Off Boogaloo" was about Paul (other than a few of the morons at Wiki), and Ringo denied that - only after he and the 2 former Fabs (John and George) made up with Paul. So maybe this song also has a double meaning to it, too? I won't be surprised, but I'm sure it has something to do with New Year's, at the least, too.
Anyway, around 5PM on New Years Eve I heard this song on the radio - and realized I missed listing it and right after that time placed it on the poll list - a full day late as far as voting went. But this is a holiday week too, and many regular voters who normally vote on Monday, will vote later on this week, so it really isn't being listed too late. Tonight when I just checked the poll again, wow, it had already gotten over 35 votes in about 9 hours time, so, that means it's getting votes like the 2 top songs that lead the pack this week.
If you voted for one of the other songs on the list and now wish to change your vote to "Ding Dong, Ding Dong", please let me know in the next few days and I can do that for you!
