The BD beat is very clear and its clear how the Stones incorporated it into Not Fade Away.

Hey I wonder if Jagger playing the maracas was influenced by BD's group? 🤔
For sure Charlie did a remarkable job on the Stones cover. As did The Grateful Dead's drummer years later.
I think in those early Bo Diddly days of the R&R era, artists were borrowing from each other.
When Buddy Holly, who wrote the song, and the Crickets first recorded the original in 1957, no doubt Holly borrowed that great beat.
All those early dudes knew what they were doing!
Back to the Ed Sullivan show, it seems Bo misunderstood the playlist and was going to play "16 Tons" next (a song that he had recorded), but Sullivan in his rage didn't let the group continue? Does anyone know what happened?
