RE: RE: I hope Gasland continues beyond 2018

Thanks guys, and I totally understand how you and so many others feel on this.

This has been a 6 day a week job for me for 19 years now and I do need a break. Yet I'm sinking a lot of money into the new board, too. Is all of this money being spent gonna pay for itself in less than a year's time? No, not likely, a new board like what we will get should last at least 5 full years to pay itself off. I'd be around 70 by then, and that's too old to be still working, IMO. Yet the people building the board keep saying that this board will be so easy to run, and put a total end to any spammers and flamers, that I'll change my mind on all of this and keep it going. But the new board would pretty much have to run itself to do just that to get me to change my mind. But as it is, we will really have 2 boards to post on, one for the oldtimers who never caused any harm, and one for new posters and those who have had problems in the past. Just deciding on who gets to post on what board is not gonna be any fun. That is also what is holding things up, since when the board is read, there won't be any notice to the board's readers as to who is actually posting on what board, as they both will be combined into one. But those who are being monitored, well that's gonna be extra work for me right there.

But if I was to change my mind on this, and keep Gasx3 going, I will have to make that decision long before January of '19. But one thing that just might come from this, is that with a new board that actually works and is modern day, well at least that might spark interest in somebody new taking over Gasland so it can live on - on another domain, and I can still ride on into the sunset of a more FT retirement.

The local newspaper I write for decided to feature me of all people in the upcoming March 1 issue, looking back on my life. I never had anything like that done for me before, and I realize that most people only get such an article (be it a lot smaller) written for them when they die, and therefore they never get to read it. So having that being put together in the last few weeks was an interesting thing indeed to be a part of, as I never really looked back on my life in that way before. I am a local celebrity (I hate using that word, but not sure what other word to use here) in my hometown, as just about everybody who lives here knows who Keno is, even if they never met me before. Yet I never wanted that. The respect, sure, who doesn't want respect? But I never did things because I wanted to stick out, I did them because I just have to be myself and I am different than most, and that's why I stick out, even in a town filled with mainly the same kind of people who are a lot like myself. Then again, we are only a community of around 2,000 people, too, so that's not too many at all in some ways. But I rather just be another good person who isn't that well known than be some local star.
