IMO, when the temps are below freezing and when snow is falling, the QBs should be allowed to deflated the balls, why not? The conditions aren't the same after all, and the refs can't stop the ball from freezing and the ball getting even harder than it normally is. It becomes like a rock under those conditions and is harder to throw, and catch too. That's why you never see great games in the snow, you see fun games in snowy conditions, yes, but not great ones. But if both QBs were allowed to deflate the ball when it's 25 degrees, then there's no cheating, and the quality of the games isn't gonna go downhill like it does now under such conditions.
Then you got that other insane ball rule in the NFL when it comes to kicking field goals. At least the QBs can choose what balls they will throw during the games, but why not the kickers? Not only do they have no choice, but whenever a field goal is to be kicked, a brand new, out of the box ball must be used - every time! Every kicker will tell you that it's harder to kick a brand new ball than one that's been used before. That's one reason why they kick balls longer in practice, since they use old balls in practice. We would have 70 yard field goals being made if the kicker got to use the same balls used when they kicked, as the same balls being used in the game by the QBs. Yes, some fans might not wish to see that, but the idea in football is to score points whenever possible.
